The paintings are sometimes developed from line drawings, though ideas can come from anywhere. There is always a focus on formal considerations such as shape, pattern and structure etc which leads to an element of abstraction.
Graduated from Art College (Bournemouth) having specialised in painting, typically creating anything from small oil sketches to large scale canvases; studied Environmental Design which involved making large oil paintings for specific locations, the largest of these was 16ft long.
Because of my focus on drawing, I was able also to work commercially as an illustrator and designer for two giftware companies, a decorated tile manufacturer, and for many years designed and created artwork for an advertising agency.
I also went through a period of drawing on-the-spot portraits at outside events for countless satisfied customers, largely round the south of England, and also in Australia.
I am now based in Poole with the focus back on oil painting. Trustee for Poole & East Dorset Art Society (PEDAS). Member of Bournemouth Arts Club
